Collective Nouns

Usually in English, we add an "s" or an "es" to show that a word is plural. Collective nouns are an exception. Collective nouns are nouns that are used to identify a group or collection of people, animals, ideas, or things. Here are a few examples:
    • In the phrase "group of people", group is a collective noun.
    • In the phrase, "pack of dogs", pack is a collective noun.
    • In the phrase, "school of fish", school is a collective noun
