Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS)

PBIS is a school-wide decision-making framework that guides the implementation of best practices for improving student academic achievement and behavior outcomes. Developed by Dr. George Sugai and his team at the University of Connecticut, PBIS is being implemented nationally. The Technical Assistance Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports has been established by the Office of Special Education Programs, US Department of Education, to give schools capacity-building information and technical assistance for identifying, adapting, and sustaining effective school-wide disciplinary practices.
